性質描述: 針狀結晶。熔點244℃（分解）。能溶于熱水，不溶于醇。其游離基S-甲基異硫脲[2986-19-8]不能單離；其鹽酸鹽[53114-57-1]熔點為59-60℃。
制備：是將硫脲加入反應器中加入少許水，在攪拌情況下使硫脲部分溶解，冷水浴冷卻下攪拌10min，再加入重蒸的硫酸二甲酯，迅速安裝上兩根球形冷凝管，以防暴沸，撤去冷水浴，反應自發進行放熱，5min后突然暴沸，此時固體已大部分溶解，待回流減弱并平衡后，加熱再回流1h，靜置過夜，反應物固化，加入95％乙醇攪拌片刻，冰水冷卻0.5h，過濾，用25％乙醇洗滌得成品。
用途: 該品為有機合成的中間體。醫藥工業用于生產抗癌藥物5-氟脲嘧啶、丙脒腙、硫酸羥胍，降壓藥胍氯酚等；農藥工業用于生產殺菌劑多菌靈、苯菌靈及殺蟲劑甲基嘧啶磷等。

First Aid Measures
【Ingestion】If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately.
