性質描述: 無色液體。有魚腥臭，存在于苦杏仁油中。沸點195℃、76℃、（799.9Pa)。相對密度0.9640。折射率1.5290。易溶于水、乙醇及乙醚。具堿性，能從空氣中吸收二氧化碳。也可由鏈霉菌Streptomyces MB699-A3 菌株發酵產生能抑制單胺氧化酶(ECl、4、3、4)的活性。對苯甲胺和血清素為底物的單胺氧化作用，其IC50值分別為3.8×10-5mol/L和6.6×10-4mol/L。單胺氧化酶參與腎上腺素或去甲腎上腺素的代謝過程，
用途: 用于其他有機合成。為藥物降糖靈的中間體，臨床上將苯乙胺用于治療腎上腺素或去甲腎上腺素的水平低下所引起的疾病。

First Aid Measures
【Ingestion】Do NOT induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately.
【Inhalation】Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. DO NOT use mouth-to-mouth respiration. If breathing has ceased apply artificial respiration using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device such as a bag and a mask.
【Skin】Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Discard contaminated clothing in a manner which limits further exposure. Destroy contaminated shoes.
【Eyes】Get medical aid immediately. Do NOT allow victim to rub or keep eyes closed. Extensive irrigation is required (at least 30 minutes).
Handling and Storage
【Storage】Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Keep away from sources of ignition. Keep container closed when not in use. Store in a tightly closed container. Keep under an argon blanket. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Do not expose to air. Store under an inert atmosphere.
【Handling】Wash thoroughly after handling. Use only in a well ventilated area. Do not breathe dust, vapor, mist, or gas. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing.
